Excitement!

So my cousin has hiked the ADKs. He likes the mountain climbing. He is in Los Angeles. And just as importantly, he has access to these amazing books for hiking around my new territory.

It is one thing to do Internet research about trails and places to go but there is something grounding about a book in your hand. It is something tangible. If you are lost in the woods, well you are lost but you have a book to hold onto and it might just help you out of that sticky wicket.

I have not actually READ these books yet (who has time to read?) and have just taken pictures so far. However, this weekend I will delve into them with abandon and get myself oriented.

One hike I am contemplating has to do Dick Cheney, I mean, the Devil's Punchbowl. I heard about this hike a few years ago and filed it away in the old tape to tape memory banks. If anyone has any advice about this hike, let me know!
