America has gone through a lot in the last decade or so and whatever you think of the underlying politics, our military men and women are on the front lines, making sacrifices for our country.
Climb For Heroes is an organization that seeks donations to help injured veterans climb some of the highest mountains in the world. Often, being a part of a climbing team is beneficial for veterans trying to reacclimatize to civilian life and I think this is a great example of the healing nature of the outdoors.
I try to help out if I can and CFH is putting on an event here in SoCal that is right up my alley, hiking a mountain!
Of course, it is not any mountain but Mt. Baldy, a mountain that has been on my bucket list for some time. If I can hike this mountain, do it with my friends (including TheSocalHiker) and raise money for a worthy cause then it is a day well spent in my book.
CFH may have an event in your area and you should check it out and see what you can do to help.
