Awhile ago I learned about the Dyrt, a much needed website that brings together reviews of various campgrounds across the US. It is amazing nowadays about how interconnected we are. I remember when my dad was interested in a place, he would send away for some brochures, maybe get some maps from AAA or a bookstore and try to figure something out.
Now, thanks to websites like the Dyrt and other hiking/blogging websites, not only can you plan logistics but you can also look up reviews of those places, really drill down into it. I recently went to Yosemite and decided to put a review up on the site of my time there which you can check out below.
As the website grows (you can take a look at it here) there will be more and more information at our fingertips, making the outdoor experience that much more personalized (I like that campsite rather than that one, etc.). Sure it takes a bit of the exploration out of it but when it comes to camping, I would much rather be closer to the mountains or a stream than a road or an outhouse, right?
